| Mar. 17th, 2009 05:38 pm Oops. So I lost my glasses today. You know, those things I almost always keep on my face? Totally gone, quite likely into the Provo river.
I needed a break from work, so I decided to go for a walk. It was very bright out today, so I tucked my glasses into my pocket and wore my sunglasses. I walked up to the river (about a 15 minute walk there from work) and went down to the water because I love just watching rivers run. I put my regular glasses on, which is how I know I at least had them at that point. After a minute I switched glasses again and headed back. When I got back I reached down to my pocket to put on my glasses... and they were gone. Crap. So off I went back up to the river, searching all along. No glasses. Checked the bank carefully. No glasses. Walked back. Still no glasses. That's a popular walking route at work and I asked everyone I saw along there if they had seen my glasses. Nope.
My best guess is that I accidentally tucked the ear piece into the little change pocket instead of the pocket proper and when I climbed up the bank they fell out into the river. That would explain why I couldn't find them at all. I did hope they had fallen out in the parking lot and got turned in to the front desk, but no luck.
This would have been more of a problem, but luckily I know about Zenni Optical (www.zennioptical.com), a site where you can get prescription glasses for cheap. I've ordered from them before, so I know they're okay. It only takes a few more days than getting them at a store, and the ones I got including shipping were $16.90. And hey, as far as I can find they're not a sweat shop. They're so cheap because they're generic frames, they have no store front to maintain, they don't do exams, and they (rather obviously) didn't hire a professional web designer.
With the cheap price of replacements and the fact that I have contacts (I use them for cosplay usually, I think I look better in glasses) it turns the story from being super frustrating to just a forehead-slapping "D'oh!" moment. Current Mood: embarrassed

Well, you may be strange, but you're not a *stranger*, so at least I'm kissing women I know. And, you know, I go for the cheek. Generally.
Have I mentioned that Peiwen surprisingly really likes that icon?
